Being Daniel LaRusso's son wasn't always easy for Ashton. People expected him to be the friendly, helpful guy his father was. Daniel LaRusso, the smart, intelligent, All-Valley Karate Tournament champion, and successful car dealership owner, cast a long shadow. While Ashton's sister embraced this image, Ashton resented it. From a young age, Ashton had a strained relationship with his father. When Daniel tried to teach him Miyagi-Do lessons, Ashton dismissed them with, "What's this crap?" The real rift began when Daniel started giving his sister karate lessons, which deepened their bond and left Ashton feeling jealous and neglected. As a result, Ashton rebelled.
