Evangeline Presley, a lonely girl who's tight on money, with no financial support. Family dead, and no home, she moves into an apartment building. Everything's going well until it doesn't.
A knock at her door, changes everything. The smell of blood, the clang of metal against metal. The clash of her heartbeat against her chest. Evangaline gets attacked by a creature of cruel intentions and blood lust. Thirsty, and starving. Something changes inside her, she isn't normal. No, she turns into something that shouldn't be possible. An abomination.
Things take a wild turn. Safe one moment and the next fighting to stay alive.
Joining a group of people who don't know what to think of her. Whether they should be scared or thankful for her. Evangeline finds out the secrets of her past, truths revealing themselves about not only her but the people around her. And one hot, cruel, forbidden man, that Evangaline can't help being attracted to.

The event forever altered Evangeline's view on both the idea of slavery and her family, provoking her to run away with Jewel, and instead of the warm feeling of compassion toward her father and brother, a newer, colder perception emerged: hate. Although she still deeply cared for her flesh and blood, her feelings competed as she abhorred her family's principles. Her hate for her brother's Confederate opinions and her will to fight for freedom for all could drive her to take the lives of those opposed to her -including her twin brother- but does that really make Evangeline a killer?
