We all walked towards nothing; literally nothing. Just an empty field, burned to ashes. We looked ahead, knowing that we would have to face many challenges in the distant future. We had to do this, though. Everyone I had ever grown up with lived there, and I couldn't just sit back and do nothing while they all died. It wasn't humane, and it wasn't something I wanted to do anyways. I knew that it was up to us to save the West; a fifteen year old, sixteen year old and a ten year old.

The Woodlands (#1 THE WOODLANDS SERIES) (COMPLETE) by LaurenTaylor3

Rosa never thought she'd make it to sixteen... When being unique puts you in danger and speaking your mind can be punishable by death, you might find yourself fighting to survive. Sixteen-year-old Rosa lives in one of the eight enclosed cities of The Woodlands. Where the lone survivors of a devastating race war have settled in the Russian wilderness because it's the only scrap of land left habitable on the planet. In these circular cities, everyone must abide by the law or face harsh punishment. Rosa's inability to conform and obey the rules brands her a leper and no one wants to be within two feet of her, until she meets Joseph. He's blonde, fair-skinned, green-eyed, and the laid-back complete opposite of Rosa. She's never met anyone quite like him, and she knows that spells danger. But differences weren't always a bad thing. People used to think being unique was one of the most treasured of traits to have. Now, the Superiors, who ruthlessly control the concrete cities with an iron fist, are obsessed with creating a 'raceless' race. They are convinced this is the only way to avoid another war. Any anomalies must be destroyed. The Superiors are unstoppable and can do anything they want. After all, they are considered superheroes by the general public. But not everyone sees them this way. When they continue to abuse their power by collecting young girls for use in their secret, high-tech breeding program, they have no idea that one of those girls has somehow managed to make friends even she didn't know she had. And one man will stop at nothing to save her.
Exile: The Book of Ever by JamesCormier
30 parts Complete
Centuries after the Fall, the United States has been wiped away. The crumbling remains of the great American empire are home now only to savage, lawless tribes and packs of ravening Damned-the twisted children of the apocalypse. Most of those few who survived humanity's destruction spend their short lives in a violent struggle for survival. But some light still flickers in the darkness: the Blessed of Bountiful live in seclusion, relying on walls both physical and spiritual to protect them from the Desolation that their world has become. Among them are the Saints, those few men and women born with superhuman abilities that the Blessed see as gifts from God. The violent apostate tribes of the Northeast Kingdom have always been a danger, but up until recently its small size and the vigilance of its people have made Bountiful an unappealing target. As attacks on the community grow harsher and more frequent, however, even the steadfast Blessed are forced to start preparing for the worst. With her home's very existence threatened, seventeen year old Ever Oaks, a Saint with the power to heal, is forced to make a difficult choice, one that may come to define her people's future... Exile was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence's Great Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (#SPFBO). Fantasy Faction said it was "extremely cool," and Bookish Lifestyle called it "more than just a story, a journey and an experience." When I'm asked about it, I often describe it as "X-Men meets The Walking Dead." In addition to reading it here for free, you can buy Exile in e-book or paperback on Amazon.com.

"I felt so caged again, as if I had wings but I wasn't allowed to fly, a voice but I wasn't allowed to speak. It was a scary feeling at first, but later you just get used to it, but you just want freedom and the feeling of safety. Why did I have to be caged in this dump? I thought about the Phoenix again. Did the Phoenix hate me? What had I ever done to this Phoenix? I balled my fists up in anger as I stared outside the window still, watching a great brown eagle fly outside." ("The Normality" is part 1 of "Destiny of Fire", the first book of the "War of the Phoenix" series) For quite a long time, a legendary bird called the "Phoenix" tried to possess a woman and her children to come in hopes of taking over the world. When it gets ready to try and possess its next victim, Alisha Quill, a group called the Storm-seekers and another group called the Spreaders are hard at work to stop the Phoenix in any way possible, including asking for the help of the most powerful man in the world; Almaroz. Meanwhile, nine heroes rise from the most unlikely places and even though they don't know it, their paths are set to cross and their destiny falls under the feet of the storm-seekers and the Phoenix itself. Achievements: #32 in Steampunk #105 in Prophecy #152 in Phoenix WARNING: It's my first story, so it probably won't be top quality, and the chapters are pretty long. "A Great Storm Is Coming..." Cover made using Canva "Breathe in, breathe out. I was on the verge of snapping again..."

{Completed} Highest Ranking: # 1 in Fantasy (01/28/17) Book. 1 My blood boiled at the thought of one of them in our streets, hidden in plain sight, perhaps even by one of the kids from the orphanages. Would it murder innocent human children? You bet. Would it even think twice about gutting a starving child? Never. What could do this, you're probably asking. But it boils down to one single word. One word that made anger I hadn't known I possessed, roar to life like a pissed off lion. One word that sent a cold chill spider-walking down my spine. Faeries. ------------ Eve Scotts's world is divided by magic - The Order of the Seven who rules over her kingdom with a steel fist and the murderous faeries's she'll be forced to fight when she turns eighteen. Eve is a dueler, a human that dabbles in the elements to fight in underground scuffles for some extra coin to feed her fellow orphans back home. But she has a secret weapon: She can wield ice magic - a magic that is only reserved for the High Witches at court. But she makes a mistake. She exposes herself. Rumors are spreading of a small orphan girl who can wield the power of ice, and it isn't long until the Order sends one of their own to snatch up the bounty. In exchange for the secrecy of her special gift, Eve agrees to participate in the Witches Academy, where humans are taught to wield the power of the elements and become powerful witch soldiers for the Order's disposal. As Eve is drawn further into the Witch world, she risks everything to learn more about her power and her lineage. With her frozen heart melting for the Count of Night, Sebastian O'Neill, Eve is thrown into a cyclone of love, betrayal, and family drama she hadn't even known an orphan could inherit. Soon, Eve must decide: Is love, or survival more important? Word Count: 102,000.
