The Ex

My name is Kaylum, and I'm 18 years old. I have autism, which helps me keep things organised and clean. Sometimes, I feel stressed trying to write more than 3,000 words in a chapter, fearing writer's block and ending up stopping.

I'm gay, and I don't care if people find it funny or not. I don't care if they dislike me for being gay because there's nothing I can do. I was born this way, and I'm proud of who I am. I'm confident in sharing my identity, but it can be hard to come out to friends and family. It's taken me time to understand who I am and how my friends feel about being gay. I've come out to everyone, whether they're confident or not.

This book isn't based on a true story. It's inspired by my mind and a favourite song. I might or may not finish writing it, but I'm determined to keep my mind open and stay calm while writing.

The story is inspired by my favourite song because it shows that when I listen to music, my mind conjures up images that aren't always true. It suggests that the story might be about my future, but I don't know what will happen.

For my message to you all:

Don't overthink who you are or who you want to be. Take your time, don't rush. It might take as long as you need to finally know who you are. Be confident! There's nothing to fear. If you think your family hates you for being LGBTQ+, don't worry about whether their reaction is good or bad. You don't know yet. And remember:
