In the realm of Beramuse, a warrior named Everett Thatcher fought valiantly against the invading forces of Mentriste. Though he fought fiercly, he was eventually overwhelmed and captured by King Magnus IV, ruler of Mentriste. Thrown into the depths of the enemy's fortress, Everett tried to escape and failed. However, the king saw potential in the him and decided to make Everett his personal source of entertainment. Henceforth, Everett was to become the court jester, tasked with amusing the king and his subjects. Everett's sharp wit and defiance only ignited the king's amusement.
