"Sam Strongarms emerges from the walls of her nation more alone than she has ever felt. As she faces the sprawling mass of soldiers, a sea of reds and yellows, she suddenly realizes that the army could easily decide to fight dirty and unleash a slew of arrows on her. Then, her sacrifice really would be in vain.

But unlike the wild Opians who are equally as strong, the Dixians always fight fair. So fair, that when reds and yellows part to reveal Redthorn glimmering in grey armor striding toward Sam, Sam wishes they had been cheap shots after all. Then at least her death would have been quick."

The might of the Dixians is only rivaled by that of the nomadic Opians. So when the peaceful Publicaens face them in battle, they know they will lose. Their only hope is Sam Strongarms, their legendary fighter who has tricked her way into the title.

This is the story of what happens to the nations that lose. Of the people who try their best to live in peace, only for history to be written by those who conquer them. What happens to those people after they lose? Why won't the Great Goddesses favor them instead of the winners? And who is to blame when everything goes wrong?

Black and White, Darkness and Light (Nico di Angelo x Fem! Reader) ''The loneliest people are the kindest. The saddest people are the brightest. The most damaged people are the wisest. All because they do not wish to see anyone else suffer the way they do.'' - Unknown Nico di Angelo is always represented as the darkness. Everyone at camp is scared by him because his father is the god of the underworld and represents death. He doesn't talk to anyone, doesn't play with anyone and doesn't want anything to do with anyone. He's afraid that people he cares about will disappear and hurt him. Just like the death of his sister that left a hole inside him. ''Our fate is that of a tragic love story. And yet, here I am, unable to let him go. Directing the both of us to our appalling end.'' Y/n L/n is described as the light, the magic and the happiness. But on the inside, she's just as broken as any other demigod. She's been living with the feeling of loss present in her, as if she is already dead. But she doesn't want anyone to see that, so she makes an effort to be happy and bright to everyone. She takes care and worries for everyone. Sometimes though, she loses control of her emotions and goes back to what she used to be: a monster! One day, while Y/n is helping her mother, she receives the visit of an old friend. He is pleading her to help the camp Half Blood. She immediately leaves her mother behind. Through fights, magic, tears, strategies and practices, she will find something new. Something that will appear only when a certain death boy is around. Is it love? Or, maybe, simply curiosity? They are just like darkness and light, two completely different people with a similar past. But we do say that opposites attract, right? This story will contain mature things such as sexual scenes, violence and swearing! Read at your own risks!

Gwyneth had always felt connected to her faith, a higher power presiding over her. That faith had shaken that devastating day those years ago, the day that went on to haunt her every nightmare for years to come. She's still trying to come back from it, to not only restore her faith in life and love, but her faith in herself. The sanctity of her spirit- she prayed for resolve. Every punch was a prayer. Every mile was a hymn. Until her knuckles bled and her knees gave. Azriel had been surrounded by darkness his whole life, a poison on his world, on his being. He exercised restraint in his every waking moment, banishing that darkness within himself. Some guessed of the strain it put on him, but no one knew the extent of it, how deep his scars ran. It was better this way, he was sure. He had always thought that if there were a higher power- which he wholly doubted- such deities must loathe him to have burdened him such darkness. He hadn't much faith in the gods anyway, much less faith that he could sway their opinion on him. But Gwyneth and Azriel did have one thing in common: the quiet fight within themselves. They only knew one way: to go about it alone, couldn't fathom letting another in. But there's a magic in finding someone who is your equal but opposite, something transforming. And frankly, Gwyneth and Azriel could both use a little magic. All characters owned by SJM in the ACOTAR series. Story takes place after the events of ACOSF. Aligns with the events in my other fic: A Storm of Flames and Deceit. I haven't finished Crescent City, so this story takes place outside of the events of those books as well. Rise of Fire: Dragons Reborn [COMPLETED] by RosaleeRain
49 parts Complete Mature
The world had long since forgotten the age of dragons, those creatures that had once ruled the skies as gods had long since disappeared after the conclusion of the Great Demon Wars. Dragons became nothing more than a fading legend, a story to tell children at bedtime. But the gods could not let the dragons die, for they were the last defense against the demon armies and the dark god Vekkar. Talia had been born and raised in a world of darkness acting as an agent of Hephatus, goddess of assassins and death. She knew only a life of killing, sometimes for justice, sometimes for honor, always for money. Her morals were opaque at best. But when she's deployed to the city of Arboros she finds herself thrust into a world of political games, opposing powers, and constant threat. Nowhere was safe even for her. Her goals became muddied, and then lost altogether when she meets the Dwarven Prince. Bromyr had spent the last five years of his life chasing ghosts, desperate to find the lost dragon eggs. His people thought him crazy, his father stripped him of his titles, but he never gave up. Eventually his effort bore fruit and he hastily made way to return to his homeland only to get caught up in the city of Arboros. It was there that he met an intriguing half-giant, a woman who ignited a fire everywhere she went. In the end she was the one who inadvertently brought about the new age of dragons. What could go wrong when an ill tempered assassin becomes the first dragon rider of a new age? ***Cover made by annie1loves1you***
