Nereida, the spirited and headstrong daughter of King Thalor, ruler of the vast and mysterious ocean, has always been fascinated by the world above. Despite her father's warnings, she ventures close to the surface, watching ships sail across the waves, enchanted by the lives of mortals she can never truly touch. But no human captivates her more than Prince Jacaerys Velaryon-the dragon-rider with the blood of Old Valyria, who seems as much a creature of the sea and sky as she is. When a terrible storm wrecks Jacaerys' ship, Nereida defies her kind and rescues him, carrying him to shore. She sings to him-a voice like the tide, both sorrowful and sweet-before vanishing into the sea, leaving only the memory of her touch on his cheek. Jacaerys awakens haunted by the sound of her voice, desperate to find the woman who saved him, even as war looms on the horizon. Desperate to be with him, Nereida makes a dangerous bargain: legs in place of her tail, but at the cost of her voice. Walking among men for the first time, she finds herself in the halls of Dragonstone, where Jacaerys-though drawn to her-does not recognize her as the siren who saved him. Their love grows in stolen moments, yet war approaches, and without her voice, she cannot tell him the truth. But when fate intervenes and she regains her voice, Jacaerys finally sees her for who she truly is-the woman who saved him, the one he has been searching for. Against all odds, he takes her as his wife, binding their fates together in love and war. Yet their happiness is fleeting. The realm is on the brink of chaos, and Jacaerys is called to fight for his mother's throne. As dragons take to the skies and the Dance of the Dragons begins, Nereida is thrust into a world of blood and fire, forced to fight for the love she sacrificed everything for. Cover by me
Crowned in Ashes | Jacaerys Velaryon
"I love you," he finally said. "In what way?" She asked. "You know what way." House Targaryen ruled the skies, their dragons soaring above the lands of Westeros, embodying the power and legacy of Old Valyria. As the blood of the dragon, the Targaryens were bound by fire and by blood, their history marked by triumph and tragedy. Their Valyrian bloodline remained pure through generations of marrying within their own house, ensuring the strength of their line and the potency of their dragons. From the Iron Throne, they governed the Seven Kingdoms with wisdom, their rule defined by a deep and unyielding connection to the fire that burned within them. House Velaryon, rulers of the seas, were ever loyal to House Targaryen, their fates as inseparable as the tides. Their wealth, power, and prestige were born from their naval dominance, securing their place as allies and kin to the dragonlords of House Targaryen. The Velaryons were steadfast in their loyalty, their bond with House Targaryen as much about shared heritage as it was about respect for the sea and the power it held. Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, son of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon, was more than just the heir to the Iron Throne, he was a warrior, a leader, and a prince truly deserving of the crown. With the blood of Old Valyria running through his veins, he carried Fire and Salt. A skilled swordsman, he trained relentlessly, his strikes as precise as they were powerful. But beyond his prowess in battle, Jacaerys was a just and compassionate leader, one who listened to his people and understood the weight of his duty. He was not just a ruler who would sit idly on a throne, he was a prince who would fight for his family and realm, who would bleed and die in honor. Many whispered that he would be the greatest king the Seven Kingdoms had ever known. Jacaerys Velaryon x Daenera Velaryon (female oc)
