After Jan was exiled from his village and the military academy for the King's Guard, he travels to the capital city of Märland. There he hopes to find some reconciliation to go back to the King's Guard Academy or his home village. Sadly, because he is a gypsy, he is constantly met with disrespect. Though he does find a home and a job in a brothel. The only place where he gains some respect over the years he stays there.
One day, the King visits the brothel looking for Jan. Apparently, the Princess Magdalena, needs an escort to the neighboring kingdom of Ruighart. The kingdoms plan to make a peace treaty by marriage. So, the Princess of Märland will marry the Prince of Ruighart. There is one little problem both kingdoms have, and that is bandits on the main road. If the princess travelled along the main road to Ruighart, she would be kidnapped by bandits in no time. To escort her discreetly, they ask Jan to take her with him as travel partner to Ruighart via safer routes.
Follow the duo on their journey to Ruighart. Will they both arrive safely and alive?
