Auria is meant to be wed-- at least, her parents believe so. It's a difficult world for an unmarried woman, and her parents only want what's best for her: a safe, well-fed life during the cold, wintry months. But, Auria doesn't want to be shackled down to a man... she doesn't know what she wants or if she's allowed to want for more. If only she were born noble or rich, she'd be able to spend her days reading. She could read REAL literature, not just biblical propaganda spread by the church. Auria wants something different than what she is, but she knows her place. Determining that fighting fate is useless, she decides to give in to her parents' demands. It's during the church's solstice event that her life does take a turn.
