Nagayo appears to be an ordinary quiet town with humble shrines, soft lantern lights, and incense drifting through the cool evening air. Behind its peaceful surface, however, lies a chilling truth. Once every day, a dead body is found somewhere in the area. No one understands why and it is now fully ingrained into its culture and folklore.
Yamato has lived in this town ever since he moved in as a child. He is secretly wishing for something that can prove the world still holds wonder, mystery, or meaning for him. His quiet days begin to change when he meets Kokoro, a strange and gentle girl who recently came to town with a wandering old woman. Kokoro claims that Yamato is the person she has been seeking.
She tells him that she wants to know him, and that she needs someone to teach her how to experience love. As the mysterious bodies continue to appear and Kokoro's presence grows more unsettling, Yamato begins to suspect that the new meaning he has been longing for may lead him somewhere he is not prepared to go.
