"I'm sorry. I can't." I quickly jerk away and distance myself from him.
"Why? Why not?" He questions, defeatedly.
"You know why." I whisper.
"Well, maybe I don't care!" He exclaims.
"It's too dangerous. I- I can't--" I counter, in another attempt to make him understand.
"Haven't you been paying attention?" He says, stepping closer and pushing a strand of my hair behind my ear. "I'm a risk taker. I'll always bet on you."
I search his honey-colored eyes for any signs of hesitation and find none. Just determination. Determination to have his way. And I find myself wanting to give it to him. To give in and forget all the reasons not to.
