Izuku was returning from completing his mission against the Shie Hassaikai when he returns to something he never even expected. His master telling him that he needs to return the power in order to give it off to someone who will focus all their time on mastering it as well as becoming capable of using 100% of it within the time constraints they have. With all this coming to a head, he relinquishes his power against the mental anguish of the previous users and leaves UA. He never hears how his old mentor had told him that he could stay within the walls of UA, but he just walks away from the school thinking that since he was quirkless... that he doesn't belong there anymore. It was here that he disappeared from Japan, and nobody even knows what happened to him, not even his friends and the girls he loves. Kacchan would demolish a deserted island, make it his bitch; it would be a paradise by the end of the week, Izuku knew. Of course, he'd want Kacchan there, even if it meant Kacchan taking out his misplaced anger at being stranded in the first place out on him. He'd reap the benefits in the end, he knew. And with no one around to be an audience, to interfere, their friendship might even rekindle. Oh, if only Kacchan was really his "worst enemy." That was silly middle school thinking, Izuku now knew, as a third year student at UA. What's worse than being abducted by aliens? For Izuku, it was being abducted by aliens with his long time nemesis, Shigaraki Tomura. When Izuku is lucky contestant number one to be chosen to be experimented on, he makes it his mission to make sure that Shigaraki does not meet the same fate. It's not super surprising when Shigaraki isn't grateful, but hey, it's a plan, and Izuku's sticking to it, determined to be heroic whether Shigaraki wants him to or not, whether Shigaraki trusts him to be or not.

His older brother, Mikumo, goes with their grandpa; he decides to just focus on studies and become a doctor. Izuku eventually is put at a group home for only boys until he is finally released, able to live with his grandma and his mother. Things don't go as planned however, because Izuku winds up homeless. All of the investigators dropped the whole investigation not even a month into looking. Bakugo then made it his mission to find answers and figure out what has happened to his childhood friend.
