Not everyone expects childhood friends to stick around. Or friends in general. Some people are fine with that. Those people know that they'll leave in the end, but still commit themselves to that relationship-- just to feel the warmth. Just to make the moment they're living in warm. But others? Others would rather shut people out to prevent any harm from befalling their heart-- preferring cold, lonely security. Preferring to put their safety of their heart over their own happiness.
