Hannah Baker, a troubled young teen attempts to commit suicide. She fails. And yet, rather than seeing this as an ending, she learns, with the help of her friends, to see it as a new beginning. While she recovers and deals with the fallout of her decision, she and her friends become embroiled in a secret so dangerous, very few in the world know about it. Along the way, they will discover things about themselves they never thought to be capable of. For Hannah and her friends, life is just beginning.

This is considered a companion story to "13 Reasons to Survive". While these two stories do occasionally intersect, they are both in their own self-contained timelines.
