More than one therapist has told me that letting go of the past would do wonders for my mental health. My refusal to accept what has happened has left me with unhealthy coping mechanisms that result in this person haunting me for the rest of my life. I want to let go. I really want to, but how does one accept that after loving someone for so long, they will just leave you for dead in a burning theatre?
