Prequel to MyccoHaccers

It's nearly 2200, and the StarSeeker cult has become the dominant cultural force. Fire Season now takes up over half the year, and in some places the smoke never clears. Governments and corporations manage civil society with the sole goal to find and train the next generation's geniuses to find a way out of this mess. They operate under the new ethos that every life can be made useful - and people marvel at the technological wonders that come out of this.

Gwythyr Gwin Bwyrdd, a mycologist from the Adar O'r Unlliw territory of Wales, is one such beneficiary of a social system that provides for everyone's needs. With tireless support for their cognitive and behavioral needs, Gwythyr succeeded in their 20s and 30s in breaking the mycelium-animalia communication barrier, and subsequently producing much needed wonder-materials for their employer. By their mid-40s, however, the apocalypse and personal losses have taken quite a toll, and their output has long since dropped. The question of whether Gwythyr has ceased to be useful and ought to be 'retired' - a prospect which certainly does not come with all the supports they've relied on their whole life.

One person still has faith, though - Mildred Wainright, ruthless CEO of Red Rhobi, an American agricultural conglomerate. She has started a new group dedicated to human survival after the apocalypse, and she's certain that Gwythyr can be made to fit the group's needs perfectly.

"What I was going to say was selfish..." He mumbled. I edge closer to him until my hand slowly cradled his cheek. Tilting his head up to look at me. "Please let me know what it was." I beg him pathetically. He begins to chew his lip and that's when I knew he was nervous. Nervous about what? I'm not exactly sure. "With everything I said...I was going to say at the same time...never...leave me." He confessed painfully almost. That's when I lost all sense of control and pressed my lips onto his. Kissing him with all my strength and all the built up desire that's accumulated. I continued to kiss him until at some point my tongue made it's way into his mouth. Tasting a sweet flavor that I've never encountered. As I got deeper in the kissing I feel myself fly back into a tree. Slammed against it that I felt myself lose my breath. Trying to catch it, I look up at Achille. His eyes were now a crimson red that intrigued me. He shook his head and suddenly he was gone in a blur. Confused, I stood as I had to pop my back from the hard hit into the tree. Looking in the direction Achille ran off, I knew I couldn't see him because it'd be a blur. Always thought it was fascinating how when he runs you can't see it. Being a vampire must be...fascinating. Yet he makes it out to be hell. I can't understand that kind of complicity of being a vampire and the issues. I get it, they drink blood. Though there's multiple things beside humans that offer blood! He acts like it's so horrific. I would love to know what it felt like for a day. Just one day...
War for Change by Colby101001
36 parts Complete Mature
Humanity used to thrive in 2035 until a group of scientists started playing God. This science team was recruited by all the top world leaders and they've begun receiving demands for a super soldier, and they began experimenting on animals, which gave the scientists expected results, but like all experiments, there was a chance for failure. The humanoid animals, or Anthros for short, started getting smarter, faster than the scientists expected, or reacted. The Anthros broke free and took what was left of the 'White Mist,' the substance that created them, and put it into the planet's air supply. Long story short, most animals worldwide have begun transforming into Anthros, and started devastating the world's militaries before attacking cities. Humanity is now facing extinction with their last millions while the Anthro civilization is over 2 Billion strong and counting. The war between Humans and Anthros has lasted for over 50 years, and while humans may be disadvantaged against the Anthros higher strength, speed, endurance, and intelligence, they still beat Anthros with improvisation, adaptability, and tactics. The war has destroyed all four Eastern continents, leaving behind a creature both Humans and Anthros call Reapers, who are husks of the person they were. The Anthros have near complete control over North America and are fighting Humanity in South America, but the main human bases are located on the Hawaiian islands. With death seeming inevitable for human kind, can nothing stop humanity from extinction? Zero has just graduated from high school with good marks and a scholarship. His family wanted to celebrate, so they said they would wait for him. He went back to grab his wallet, and as he turned around, he started falling in a wormhole, closing afterwards. 8 parts Ongoing Mature
Eighty thousand years into the future, Earth is no more. This world is now called Lokar-a realm of strangeness, where humans struggle to survive alongside elves, orcs, goblins, vampires, merfolk, and dragons. Born from the genetic-engineering science of our present age, these species now fight to rule a world of sword and sorcery, war and blood. But Lokar's story is more than this. In orbit, the Sky People dwell-a breakaway civilization from humanity's forgotten past. Mythical and unseen, save for the drifting lights of their stations in the night sky, their name is whispered in reverence and fear. To most, they are only a legend. Until the sky falls. When a steel ship crashes onto Lokar, myth becomes reality. From the wreckage emerges Morse, a girl named with fire-orange eyes, bearing secrets as ancient as Lokar itself. Drawn by adventure, a young Lokari named Jason must join forces with this enigmatic fire-eyed girl to uncover the mysteries of their intertwined pasts and face a destiny neither could have imagined. The fate of Lokar and the stars hangs by a thread. As the veil between legend and history tears away, a truth long buried will rise to shape a future yet unwritten. These secrets have been whispered for millennia. Now, Lokar must listen. ------- Note: I publish a chapter 3 times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I also do all of my own art, which you can see in each chapter. If you'd like to see more art, especially the stuff I can't publish here (*wink wink*), you can find that on my Patreon. I believe in world-building and rich characters. I also believe in big ideas. There is a bit of steamy interaction between the characters, but it's not the main focus!
Dust (Black Widow X Reader) by RyuKarizau

"One of the few things I learned in my life was that death always comes. Senescence, illness or... murder, death is always the end every single one of us will face. I was told that mankind was born to die. That's what kept me sane in this job. Death isn't bad, as long as it is quick....." (Y/N) (M/N) (L/N) is a computer freak who bears the power of fire demon Daemon and the best assassin to ever step in the field. He was very well known in the underworld not only for his killing abilities but for his excellent computer skills as well. His victims varied from well known CEOs to even presidents. His nickname was "(N/N)" because he never left any tracks behind and no one knew anything about him except for a woman called Natalia Romanova. They were partners until S.H.I.E.L.D caught her. But what happened when he will have to step into the light to help his old partner in crime? (Y/N): Your name (M/N): Middle Name (L/N): Last Name (N/N): Nickname (E/C): Eye Color (H/C): Hair Color (Y/C): Your City I don't own any of the soundtracks I used, the owners will be mentioned in the story. Also, I don't own any of the characters, Marvel does, except for you. You own yourself. I only own the first 10 chapters and the editing of the photos, not the parts that are used. This is the first time I write something like this and it's mostly like an experiment. There will be some violence scences but you will be warned before you get to it so as to skip the chapter or the part if necessery since a reader might be disturbed by it.. Also as Steve once said: "Language!" That's why I turned on the mature content. I hope you enjoy.

[ 2019 ONC ambassador's pick and ONC shortlister ] The three degrees of Danger are as follows: Denial. You pretend that it's not there and you lie to yourself that it'll pass. It won't. The second stage is evolution. You tell yourself that the worst is over but you're gradually changing inside, slowly adapting to the new environment. The final degree of Danger is succumbing to temptation. You give up listening to your fading instincts, give in to the voices in your head and you give it your all. Because the world is changing and if you don't change with it, you're dead by daylight. *** Danger is a virus that is spreading through everybody's Software. It turns you insane, kills your moral compass. No one knows where it came from or how to stop it but one thing is clear- nothing will ever be the same. In a world where it's kill or be killed, you can't just stay on your toes and pray that you will survive. Murder is crucial if you want to live. These are the rules that Vic lives by as she races up the social ladder, ready to clinch the only thing that will vindicate her- the position of an Elite Killer, a title only given to the best serial killers. It is only when she meets a mysterious boy who refuses to play by the rules of society even when it means inevident death, does she start to challenge the system. In a world where mercy does not exist, Vic has to stop the deadly massacres without getting assasinated before the basic laws of a functioning civilisation starts to break down. Curse of the Stars Book 1 by AprilCalderwood
39 parts Complete Mature
"You will seek death but you will not find it. You will long to lose consciousness but ever present you shall stay. Finally alone you will shrivel up and die without your own kind in all your magnificent splendor, and only after everyone you love is dead. By then, it will no longer matter, for when you finally have your light you will depart from it faster than fire from a raging wind. But perhaps you would have comfort yet little one. Death is a sweet thing in a world like this." Cursed by a Wishing Dragon when she was only a dragonet, Stygian sets off in search of a cure, leaving behind everyone she knows and loves. On her journey for help she meets more enemies than friends, with a little red fox as her only companion. At last she finds Turbulence; God of Confusion; the only one who can save her, or so he or she claims. *** Fyran, the Librarian's Apprentice is on the hunt for Leviathan; a legendary beast long foretold by prophecy, a prophecy she had disregarded as an old fable. Yet, ever since her father stumbled into their broken down house one dark night covered in blood and deliriously talking about a dragon with iron teeth, Fyran is no longer so sure. After her father dies and renders them all penniless, Fyran goes in search of this creature to take revenge-and the huge bounty on its head issued by the King of Sufta. Perhaps she will be successful and they'll no longer have to grovel as the poorest of the poor, and at the very least she'll acquire justice for the murder of her father, the only father she's ever had. But there is an old and forgotten prophecy as old as time fast approaching on the horizon. Nobody can stop it, fate is a force that can't be reckoned with, and everything that ever has and will ever happen to every citizen has already been foretold in their scrolls. The fate of Sufta is uncertain, and powerful forces are at play, but who has enough discernment to understand a long forgotten prophecy that's been dismissed by generations?
