It's been a year since "The Last Adventure", and life has gone back to normal for the Duck family- "normal" being subjective, of course.
Unfortunately for Della, the relative peace means she can't distract herself from the heartbreak that prompted her to take off on the Spear of Selene almost 13 years prior. Adding to the stress, she can't help but notice that one of her boys is very similar to her no-good, absentee husband, Edward Duck: Huey.
When Huey disappears and Della finds her husband's journal in the wreckage, she knows that her husband has come back to steal away her oldest son. But she can't shake the fear that that's not true- that her son will make the same uncharacteristic turn as her husband did years ago.

He grows up there and learns how to survive in that environment, all the while wanting to get to Earth as soon as possible and meet his family that his mother has told him so much about.
