After being turned away when offering to help, the great wizard Cassio takes the Rossi's week-old son Elio as punishment before raising the child as his own. When Cassio predicts that Elio will become a handsome young man that all the ladies will love, he decides to keep his ward away in a tower deep in the forest. All Elio knows is that Cassio is his father, and he's never had another visitor come to his tower, but all that is about to change after he turns 21.

Some involve the hag stealing the baby because of it's beauty and youth. Though many versions of this tale has been told over the years, the plot remains the same. It was about a young girl with long hair who was kidnapped at a young age by an old hag, and then confined in a tower with only one window. This version of the tale involves the hag's past.
