The compound, where they take the angles to train, is just miles under the surface of the Red World. The average citizen in Society doesn’t know of the existence of angles, the compound or the "higher-ups" the "gods" as we like to call them, that run their lives. The citizens know for that once a year ghosts, ninja, angles – there are many names for us – come and take their children. The children, girls and boys a like, are taken between the ages of six and eight. And always, always, on the last day of May. May Day as the citizens like to call it.

While they don’t know what takes their children, some of them have gotten it right: Angles. At least that’s what we call ourselves. If the higher-ups, gods we call them because they design worlds, then we are their angles carrying out their dirty work.
