Life for Sonic has been turned upside down after Kintobor murdered the rest of the royal family and took the throne for himself, imprisoning most of his friends and family--including his siblings, Sonia and Manic--in grueling work camps. Things get even crazier when in a desperate attempt to stage a coup, he gets kidnapped and dumped on the ship of Captain Shadow, a privateer employed by Kintobor.
