Magnolia Henderson is a 16-year-old girl living in the slums of Tivoli Kingston, Jamaica.

She attends Snowden High School in Kingston. Her mother is her only provider and struggles to provide for the daily needs of her and her sisters: Tia-Marie and Mishanna.

Her mother Kayla is a prostitute and believes that it was Magnolia's time to join her profession, to provide for their family. However, Magnolia aspires to be a singer but has to get her grades up to join.

She was in despair until she met Ms. Campbell, her music teacher, who nurtured her talent. Soon afterward, Xander takes an interest in her and makes her his.

With the encouragement and love from these two people who saw her when she was invisible, Magnolia gets her grades up and can apply to Edna Manley College of the Performing Arts and gets in.

This is a story of triumph over adversity, which shows that if we all cared a little more, we could overcome any trial.
