When Simon was ten, he lost his parents to war. And again at the age of fourteen he lost his adoptive father, a blacksmith. Now he's taken away by wizards, which he blames for the death of his family. Though wizards aren't his only problem. Cast down into the literal depths of hell, Simon must escape before the clock runs out.

Emily is an adept student under the apprenticeship of Professor Janus, a young eccentric wizard. Unable to cast fire magic, her professor runs a test on her magic ability, revealing much more than she was expecting.

Battling against demons and trying to turn old enemies into allies, Emily must fight against the demons pouring into the world of Tritus, before they are overrun.

Simon must push through and survive in the world of the dead and the home of demons, and ontop of surviving he must close the Wayfire, a portal into the world above.
