Subaru Natsuki is a Japanese student who loves reading manga and playing video games. One day, he is transported to a parallel world where there are magical creatures, alien gems and an impending war. He discovers that he has the ability to go back in time whenever he dies, but this also brings a lot of suffering and despair. He meets Steven, a half-human, half-gem boy who leads the Crystal Gems, a group of rebels protecting Earth from threats from outer space. Together, they will face powerful enemies, ancient mysteries and internal conflicts, while Subaru tries to find a way to return home.
