Francesco Di Gallo is twenty-four and in his last year at a prestigious film school in Turin where he met his beautiful, kind American girlfriend Melissa, and he's on the way to working on the masterpiece that will make him a household name. It's supposed to be the life he's always planned for himself, though it feels like something's missing. When an unexpected phone call tears his life apart, he's forced to go back home for the first time in five years. Back in Sorrento, he relives the summer he turned seventeen, alongside his fellow movie lover and childhood friend Giulio Bianchi, and the man he left behind.

While fixing up the beach cabin they spent the best days of that last summer before everything went wrong, Francesco and Giulio begin the hard work of fixing their relationship. Under the July heat, Francesco is unable to ignore that behind the dust of five years apart, they still mean something more to each other.

Will the truth about what happened the summer they were seventeen - the summer they grew apart - wash away the fragile work they've put into rebuilding now they've met each other again, or will Francesco finally realise what it is he wants, and find a home upon a familiar shore?
