Oldau doesn't have the same zest as his gnomic brother, Verag. Verag is confident, worldly, and a bit of a know-it-all. Oldau settles for a quiet, peaceful existence, coming to life every evening and climbing back into his spot each following morning. Life wasn't usually very exciting, but that could change at the drop of a Flat Roundy!
As it does one fateful evening when Liuga, their kind deer brother, challenges Verag to a little game. It is a game Oldau knows in his Bodily Thumper Clock Verag wouldn't turn down. And, when Drogh--a neighbour gnome and the cutest of the gnomes in any garden--joins the challenge, Oldau knows his place in the game is to protect her. So, he pushes aside his prejudices and follows them into pure chaos, where they tip the delicate balance of the community and end up looking in a strange, uncomfortable mirror.
