Maybe this hoped for life and love with you could have been possible.
Without the societal stigma attached to this present awkward place
Where passing time draws us together into concentric circles to remind
No matter what lies ahead and how much has been left behind.
All the unforgettable tears and laughter the promise of forever after
After all, has been said and done what might have become but never will be
Selling our lovelorn lives to the enemy within each endless reflective stare
Even the unwelcome idle chatter behind backs turned while we are together there.
Witnessing the endless possibility slip through our loving embrace I so need.
How could you possibly endure loss of friends' whispered disgrace even I plead?
Lord knows this might have been what we wanted true love to be forever true.
The moment my eyes met yours and your innocent face I at long last knew.
Surely it would have been a blessed time for us in the realm of such possibility.
