I suck in a deep breath. One of them turns his head to the side as if listening for something stands, and walks out of the room. I stand there listening as she tries earnestly to convince them that they are wrong. I sense someone behind me, and I turn. A hand covers my mouth before I can make a sound, and my eyes widen.

"Shh, sweetheart, I'm not going to hurt you." I look up at him. He has black wavy hair that almost covers his eyes. and dark brown eyes. The iris is rimmed in red.

I nod, and he takes his hand from my mouth. He pulls me down the hall away from the living room.

"What's your name, sweetheart?"
