Ten billion lives gone, all because of a simple space probe landed in the Carlingeian. No one thought much of it as it was a normal thing to bring space equipment back down so it would clutter the skies; everyone was told it was coming down so no one batted an eye when it came down from the heavens. At least till people started dropping dead. First symptoms appeared in what was in the old world called Usonia, and soon after neighboring nations started reporting similar outbreaks, then neighboring continents. It spread so quickly that by the time actions were taken to stop the spread, it was already over in no less than a week. During the last days of the old world in a final act of defiance humanity tried cleansing the plague and the newly christened 'Plague Rats' with nuclear means.

The twenty percent of the population referred to as Plague Rats due to them having survived the plague and the ten percent of them that survived the ensuing fallout were ...changed. They were not immune; rather the disease changed them into something else, something new, something different. It gave them powers and changed their appearance depending on the strains they were inflicted with and what inflicted their parents.

Now two hundred years later the world is split between those of the civilized societies, or those groups that have achieved a post plague level of technology, and those of the uncivilized societies, or rather those that technological and socially wise ranged from the stone age to that of the industrial revolution. However, with the Enforcers of the civilized societies reporting strange forces moving in and out of civilized and uncivilized territories, and even stranger happenings, leaving governments around the globe on edge. Three factions converge on the unsuspecting dimension and bring war with them. With the beating of drums and the hammering of boots, war once again descends on the world on a scale rivaling that of the second great war of the old world.
