Carefully To Tread
I believe this was my first attempt at writing long-form fiction, back in 2003. Fan fiction was a fantastic way to get my sea legs, so to speak. It's interesting to see where I was then, as a writer. Re-reading it, I had to stop myself from editing anything. I had a good chuckle at the unabashed, sappy romance of the story, but I'm still rather fond of it. And proud. Summary: Set mid-season 6. Begins at the end of βOnce More With Feelingβ. Buffy needs something to make her feel alive, but she already has something, if sheβll only open her eyes. they've known of each other for three years-same hallways, same classes, same friend groups orbiting around each other. but 'knowing of' someone isn't the same as knowing them. rory is blunt. she's a little closed off, and saves her best self for only the people who deserve it. but once you've pushed past that guard, she's full of light. kane is quiet, and humble; but beneath that, he's observant, tentative, kind, and annoyingly hot. senior year throws them together when he starts tutoring her, and suddenly, they're seeing each other in a way they never did before. kane can't handle being the centre of her attention. rory wants to know more. however, it turns out that getting to know someone can feel a lot like falling. and maybe, it's worth the risk.Complete
