My best friend Jake and I have known each other since preschool. I'm a year older than Jake but I got held back because I didn't meet the schools expectations even though I excelled in all of my classes. After Jake's mom died we became closer than ever. I would give Jake all my old dolls so he could use them in his sculptures. One day I was walking home with Jake and we came across a yard sale. At one of the tables was an old 'Good Guy' doll. After bringing him home...nothing was the same.

My life used to be pretty boring. Everything was average. Normal family, normal looks, normal house, normal job, normal life. The only non-boring aspect of my life was my best friend which was only because she always managed to mess it up somehow. I didn't really mind much because it kept things interesting. "Mom, not today. I don't even know why you're making me go. Today is dads..." I didn't want to finish and remind her of dads' birthday. My phone kept ringing, I already knew it was Dakota, he's my childhood best friend. "Just take your brother to school, please!" She exclaimed. She looked miserable. I shut the door and smelled the freshly cut grass. I smiled to myself knowing it was my dad's favorite smell. "Alexandria! We're gonna be late, can you stop daydreaming and get in the car." My brother, Cory hollered. He hates to think about dad. He just forgets. I Jeep Wrangler and I started the car, Cory rolled down his windows. "Are we sitting together at lunch today?" Cory asked me. "No I want you to sit with your friends, I'll be alright alone." I told him. "Alright Alex, believe it or not I actually love you. And I love you enough to tell you, you need friends." He admitted. "Have fun. Love you too, Corky." I laughed at the name I gave him when I was a kid. He smiled at me then left into the school. I went on to go to a flower shop. I stopped and got out. I walked in the shop. "Ally, do you have my order, the cars running?" I asked Ally. "Yeah Alex, I have it. Your order for 1 dozen Chocolate Cosmos, 2 dozen Daises, and 1 dozen yellow Roses." "Thanks Ally." I grabbed all the flowers then ran back to the car. I drove to the grave. I threw all my stuff into my bag. I grabbed the flowers and I pulled my bag over my shoulder and got out. I looked around and saw people young and old coming here to see their loved ones. I saw my families graves. Almost my whole family will be buried here. My grandpa always said it was sacred. I put the Cosmos on my dad's grave. The Daises on my grandmothers and the Roses on my grandpas. I talked and talked to them till I pull my pack of cigarettes out of my bag along with a lighter. I did understand the appeal of these boys but there were a lot of good looking guys on the swim team too and I did go with Jarred when he had fights. "You know we wouldn't let anyone hurt you right? Even if Jarred isn't around, we'll be here to protect you." I blinked. I blinked again. Nope, he was still standing there with the same serious expression. Derek, the unofficial leader of the Five, the boy every guy would want to be friends with and every girl would love to sleep with, was offering me his protection. I did the only thing that made sense in that situation. I burst out laughing. I was laughing so hard that I doubled over and when I glanced up at him I just cracked up again. He stood through it all without any emotion on his face, there was barely a glimmer of anger in his eyes. If anything I might have seen some surprise. I patted him on the arm and winked. "You. Are. Funny! I don't need you idiots to look out for me. But thanks for the thought." With that I quickly made my way to class.Lengkap

I honestly didn't realize how broken I was. I just figured that if I shut all my feelings out that they would go away. They didn't. They came back strong as ever. And I did the worst thing that I could do. I let my feelings get the best of me. My daddy told me to never let anyone walk over me. And yet that is exactly what everybody does.
