War stories are not my speciality, but thought I'd give it a try this story's focus is a spiritual experience of death as told by a loving father and husband whose role is that of an interplanetary career soldier. Some of it is fairly graphic and probably too much for my liking but this appears to be what is expected of a war story.

My father, the commander of the elite group chosen to live amongst the stars, brought me along for the journey. The Vengeance Trilogy.
A trilogy of military hard SciFi short stories, each of which stands on its own but is linked to the earlier parts. Part 1 is my attempt at writing what a battle in space might really be like. Part 2 is - well, as a student of military history, I was struck by how some things in the military life have seemed to be constant over the centuries. Part 3 is the result of trying to imagine what an infantry fire-fight might be like in the 22nd century or beyond. How does technology play into it?Complete
