Lily vs. the Minotaur." That's how she'd title her work memoir. Her non-work friends thought she simply worked for a jewelry manufacturer, largely designing engagement rings for prospective brides and sometimes delivering coffees. And technically- she did. But Davenney Diamonds was a world all its own, hidden in a non-descript office building. How Lily found herself in a job - with literal heaps of diamonds and precious stones on her desk- was a mystery, even to her. But she'd been navigating illogical pathways, hidden compartments, dead ends, and Home Alone style booby-traps for four whole years now. All while trying to avoid a certain pair of dark eyes. Despite designing wedding rings, Lily's own left hand was ringless. She didn't mind, though. She was quite certain that most single men of her age moonlighted as devils. Cross her heart and salt over shoulder, she would not be caught unawares, again. Aaron Tavarious was the actual worst of them, though. The metaphorical Minotaur of the Daveney Diamonds maze, his dark gaze seemed to follow her through the very walls. He was always looking for something, or someone, to devour. The animosity was mutual. Aaron liked to call Lily "Lil' Shelob", which was a nerdy reference about an enormous spider that she pretended to not understand. Lily did love to trap him in her webs, though. If only to watch him struggle. All her scheming and career plans went awry though, and Lily was faced with a hard situation. Too hard. A situation that might lead to her leaving Daveney Diamonds altogether. It was just - suspicious - that Aaron seemed to want to help her stay. If she didn't know better, she'd say he seemed almost... desperate to keep her in that Labyrinth with him. Maybe forever. ***This is my FIRST book, so the sincerest thank you for checking it out, and please be gentle.***
