THE TAMARIND TREE

Originally part of a longer book, Plague Moon, I eventually removed The Tamarind Tree because I thought it interrupted the story's flow. However, as a story, it stands alone.
Indira Poorani, her mother, and her sister are poor women struggling to improve their lives in a small rural village in modern India. Accused of witchcraft by a corrupt, lecherous holy man, their lives are shattered. Indira is left alone, hunted and embittered. She comes upon a unique refuge for women, where unwittingly she befriends a powerful demon, who transforms her destiny.
