The time of finding destined mates is over. Now the werewolves choose their own mates, marking those they have claimed to start the mate bond themselves. 

The Alliance was founded nearly seven hundred years ago shortly after it was confirmed finding destined mates was no longer possible. It allowed the wolves to stay in friendly communication with other packs to find viable mate candidates to further everyone's bloodlines effectively. Now, in the present day and age, it has evolved into an optional government structure currently at war with rogues that stand against the Alliance's laws and way of doing things. 

Aline is a Captain in the Alliance's main offensive unit, one who has also earned the friendship of a dragon. Despite her young age of twenty five she is one of the Alliance's best fighters and has led her unit into many victories against the rogues on the main battlefield. But the reasoning behind her dedication to advancing her combat skills and experience lines up with more personal desires than just wanting to defend their side from the rogues. She craves to be an Alpha of her own pack, not just mated to one as a Luna. Though females are not forbidden from being Alphas it is still rare to find one in such a role as their might and leadership capabilities must be proven first for the Alliance to accept them as such. There are also rules to follow in taking over a pack or forming a new one. After her request is denied, again, to become Alpha of her birth pack she is sent as an Alliance representative to inspect the combat and healing units of a pack that recently joined the Alliance. She feels this is a veiled attempt by her father to convince her to allow a mate bond with the new pack's Alpha. Though she has no interest in playing into the plot she goes to perform her task of inspector. Finding a more delightful turn of events than she could have ever expected.

"Mate" Kat said in my head. It was like I was staring into his soul. We were so close I could hear him breathing. His steady breathing was the best music I could hear. He nearly stopped my breath, it felt like I was floating. His honey eyes were staring into mine he looked mesmerized. He took his hand off my chin and softly grabbed my hand. He pulled it up to his mouth and said "I believe you're my Queen." He said in a deep enriching voice. Then he kissed my hand with his soft lips.
