Grace and Colton have known each other forever. Living in houses right beside the other, in a small quaint town in West Virginia, they went to school together, birthday partys together, vacations together, and apparently, even family reunions together. It's summer break, the last summer they have before they go to University. When Grace and her mother get invited to a family reunion from a distant cousin, they accept. As Grace is packing her bags for the summer long trip to the country-side in Alabama, her mother tells her that she invited Colton and his mom to come along for the trip, since it's their last summer together. What will happen when they have to stay in the same cabin as each other? Will they maybe become more than "just friends"? _________________________________________________________________ He looks down at me, as i look up. Our eyes meet, and a chill runs up my spine, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. He tilts my chin up, and moves his head so that his lips are brushing my ear as he says, "You've got a little something on your lips, darling." My breathing hitches from our proximity, from his words. "Do I?" I manage to breathe out. He nods slowly, and then inches closer to my face. By now, we are only a few centimeters apart. His sweet honey eyes look from my eyes to my lips, and back to my eyes. "Wh-What's on my-" I stutter out as i move my hand up to touch my lips. Before i can finish my sentence, he grabs my wrist, and places my hand on the side of his neck. "Only the most beautiful shade of pink I've ever seen."

"The moon's really beautiful, if you think about it," I blurted. "Yeah?" he asked, mild amusement and curiosity mingling in his voice. "Yeah," I confirmed. "It's just- there's something about the moon that's ethereal. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's a constant in life. You can't always see it, but you have to trust that it's out there somewhere. And when you can see it, it's all bright and shiny and overcomes the darkness." I paused, searching for the right words. "I don't know. I guess it's a reminder that there are good things out there, even if you can't see them... And it's cool to think that someone hundreds of miles away is staring at the exact same moon as you. It makes me feel not so alone in life." Turning my head, I saw him staring at me intently with a thoughtful look on his face. "Too deep for a Friday night?" I laughed nervously, feeling my face grow hot. And this was precisely why I didn't go to parties. He shook his head and seemed to snap out of his daze. "It was deep in a good way." *** SHE was quiet & left out. 'Is that how a moth feels as it flies to the fire? She'll burn your wings, honey. Your heart will dry. Don't come any closer.' - Catherine * * * Sometimes, love at first sight wouldn't happen and no one could definitely get it right the first time. Sometimes, your first love wouldn't necessarily be your last. Then of course, in real life games, cheat codes and, ultimately, cheaters existed. Unfair? That's life. It wouldn't stop at having the one you love and marrying wasn't the happy ending but the signal of another book starting. Far from the end. New chapters. Variety of troubles that popped at every turn. Not all rainbows and butterflies. Still, with the one you love. 'And if there's love, you can do without happiness too. Even with sorrow, life is sweet.' Dostoevsky must have been on to something when he cooked that quotable quote up. However, the kind of love some were conditioned and aspired for wasn't that enduring. If it's not perfect then it's not worth fighting for. But... 'You're in love' so what's a little rain or occasional unforecasted storms here and there? Love triumphs after all. © All rights reserved
