When a stormtrooper commander is left to die on the battlefield, she's captured and detained by the Rebellion. During her time in their custody, she learns the hard truth about the Empire and tries to adjust to her new life with her former enemies. She soon catches the interest of young Jedi Luke Skywalker, who she fears and resents for his role in the destruction of the first Death Star four years prior. But as she spends more time with him she finds that he's not the demon that the Empire had made him out to be, and begins to develop a fondness toward him; feelings that unbeknownst to her, the Jedi reciprocates. Unfortunately the galaxy is still at war, and the immediate threat of the Empire must be dealt with before any such feelings can be addressed.
