Electric Veil

A SHORT STORY BY LUMERISDAR

It had been twenty-six years since the events of the infamous Silent Zone incident- a corporate catastrophe which leaked an alien-like material in a hazardous cloud across the eastern coast of the United States, bending reality to its own degrees, causing widespread chaos.

It drove many families to move to major cities where it was under control, such was the case with Ezra Susho and his family. He now grew up and lived a solitary lifestyle in New York, spending most of his days alone at school, downtown, or at home.

However, when a new girl who had recently moved to the city arrives at school at the start of his second semester, his world is flipped upside down as the two seem to connect like puzzle pieces without reasonable explanation.

Ezra would finally gain a friend to bond, admire, and talk to who brings him out of his shell. However, her odd behavior grants him a tour of the other side of reality- the unnatural world beyond the city's borders. Soon, though, he learns frightening secrets about himself and her that the world had been hiding from him all along.
