In the fall of 1942, my family and I were en route to our new residence in the state of Connecticut.

Max and I were in the backseat, with him occupied on his phone while I gazed out the window. So, I was asking my dad why we had to leave Colorado so suddenly, and then he interrupted me all confidently and said, "Hey, kiddo, we're here! We made it to our destination!". As soon as we stepped out of the car, my eyes were drawn to the house. Frankly, I was taken aback by its deteriorating condition...
