Lana has lived her entire life with the Society of Friends, an organization dedicated to rescuing wounded pokemon in need and raising them back to health. With her trusty Pikachu, Paka, and the caring workers at the Society, she leads a comfortable and safe life protecting pokemon from danger.
But one day, she rescues a severely wounded Pikachu that is definitely more than what it seems. The next day, tens, hundreds, of Pikachus are being rescued, all terrified and near death. Then Lana finds out something even stranger. Trainers have been disappearing all over Johto and Kanto, and they all have one thing in common: the possession of a certain electric type pokemon.
And it isn't long before Lana's next.
With the help of an enthusiastic breeder, Bolt, a brooding ace trainer, Luce, and a quiet girl named Kou, can she solve this strange mystery? Or will she too, succumb to the darkness enveloping the region?

Whereas the character Blue (also known as Gary in the anime) is more of a frenemy than a rival. The main rivals would be Team Rocket Grunts - Cassidy and Butch as well as their Boss, Giovanni. Q - Is this story based on Pokemon Red or FireRed? A - The story has a few iconic moments from the games/manga but those events do not play a big part in the main story arc. Q - Is Ash Ketchum in it? A - The story takes place in its own universe. I try to bring some events from the games, the manga, and the anime. You get to see a different version of Ash Ketchum (close to how he has been depicted in the anime) in 2 chapters of this book. Q - Is Team Rocket the same as in the anime? A - While Cassidy and Butch are characters from the anime, they have a different overall character arc than in the anime.
