Meet Carolina.

Her solitary pursuits make Carolina a target for bullies, whose incessant teasing she shakes off as best she can.
Until a prank goes too far, leaving a devastated Carolina, a burnt body and so many questions. Who is the strange boy she keeps seeing in the forest? Who can she trust, in a world filled with such inhumanity?
Can Carolina ever truly go home, or did her ties to this world burn up in that fire, the ashes floating away into the night?

His father declared as he looked at me with shock. "Did you know that?" He said, his face void of any emotion. I nodded while looking anywhere but him. He cursed under his breath and his mother was about to scold him for that when he looked at me in anger and frustration. I gulped. The bird had crept closer, we realised and now stood a few metres away from us, giving us a good view of its appearance. Taller than a full grown man, it had the body of a vulture, its strong wings folded along its back, legs the size of a strongmans thighs and its clawed feet were the size of lorry tyres. It had a long thin neck stretched out infront of it and its head... Its head was a humans. Crazy wild hair stuck up around its head like a fan, mad, wide black eyes bore into us, its nose turned up at the end and it had its mouth open, lips pulled back showing razor sharp, pointed teeth. An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. She then learns what it really meant to get the raw end of life. Follow as Alexandra deals with more then she thought she could handle. Alexandra might be strong willed but nothing could possibly prepare for what was to come. [Please keep in mind that this story is a very fast paced story. It does have around 40 chapters so it might not seem like it. But trust me that it is.] ||Full Disclosure|| I started the book in the end of 8th grade so it needs MAJOR editing. It also does have Sexual Chapters, as well as people of the same sex being together, murder, brutally torture talk of rape and sexual harassment.
