After several years of hard work and tireless study, Tika Windwhisper has almost reached the end of her tenure as an apprentice enchantress. But one obstacle yet stands in her way before she can graduate: an obstacle that will reveal itself to her first as a mysterious but beautiful whistling noise in the heart of Underbridge's grimy undercity, and then in the gently smiling face of the most beautiful human Tika has ever met. Without understanding why and quite helpless to resist, Tika finds herself hopelessly and inescapably enchanted by the woman. 

Truth be told, however, she doesn't particularly mind.
