In order for Kyurem to regain his true form, he must discover the two Dragon Stones, and merge them with his empty shell to manifest the true god. But in order to do so, he has to explore uncharted islands - meet friends and foes alike - and explore ruins and solve tricky puzzles.

Right after she gained her eighth Gym badge in Unova, she had an urge to visit her home region of Kanto and her friends who live there. After visiting with her family and friends in Pallet Town, she headed to Cerulean Cape to visit Bill, who started up Crystal's PC Pokémon storage system. Bill was in the middle of an experiment and Crystal offers to help, which brings her the ability of a Ditto: the ability to change into any Pokémon. That is, with practice.
