When her neighbor finds about how Carla likes him he begins to do BAD things.When Carla saw Seth stalking her she broke up with him so he started to do bad things to her neighbor.When he gets rid of all who she likes he will have her.Seth says some point in the story,"If I can't have you no one can!!"
