In Chuuya's frustration with being partnered with Dazai, powerful as they are, he runs off from Port Mafia's boundaries for a week. He's reported to be unresponsive and his location is unknown, so Dazai is ordered to fetch him.

In the process of finding Chuuya, Dazai is shot just under his pectoral muscles. He isn't able to patch himself up, and due to Chuuya's insistence, his partner treats him.

Unfortunately, one of Dazai's secrets is revealed to his partner while he's being treated: he wasn't born a boy.

"What is love, and how do you get rid of it?" Dazai doesn't typically feel any emotions, at all- or at least he can't understand them. He hates that Chuuya makes him feel emotions, specifically the emotion of love, so he in turn despises Chuuya for it instead. And it's driving him crazy. "I won't let you get away this time." Chuuya is doing his best to get over Dazai, but as usual, nothing goes according to plan for him. No matter how much Chuuya tries to deny it or change them, he can't get rid of his feelings. So he finally does something different about it. Or: Dazai struggles with the concept of love, and his past catches up with him from how he chooses to deal with experiencing feelings and things he thinks he doesn't deserve as someone outside of humanity; and he makes it everyone's problem. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ Bungo Stray Dogs Soukoku fanfic. 23 parts Complete

Chuuya Nakahara thought he had left the Port Mafia-and the pain of his past-behind him for good. But when an unforeseen threat forces him to return, he finds himself once again entangled with his former partner, Osamu Dazai. Under the guise of a reluctant alliance, Dazai brings Chuuya and a new team of young recruits into the Port Mafia, claiming it's for their safety. But the deeper they work together, the more Chuuya realizes that Dazai has more than business on his mind-and perhaps Chuuya has been carrying feelings he never expected, even after all these years. In a world where loyalty and betrayal blur together, can two broken souls truly find redemption in each other? Or are they destined to remain bound by shadows and light?
