As Hermione arrives in Hogwarts, it's no longer the safe familiar walls she cherished as a child. It's secrets, fear and sparring lessons. Sparring lessons which are meant to prepare the older students for war, making her feel anything but prepared as she fails to challenge any of her opponents. That's until she makes a deal with a Slytherin and outsmarts Draco Malfoy at his own game. Draco Malfoy who seems to be drowning in his own thoughts and worry about what this year has to bring, just like her. Are they really alike after all?

When Hermione finds her self coming back to Hogwarts for a Manditory 8th year, she is put in a place she shouldn't be. A place too close to Draco Malfoy a place were it should be impossible for her to stand and Draco is determined to find out why and how. "Dear Miss Granger, I am writing to you today to inform you that you have been chosen for the resorting program. We, The Ministry have decided that all people who were in attendance of they're seventh year at Hogwarts during the war is required to return back to Hogwarts for a mandatory 8th year. As this is mandatory all former 7th years will be in attendance, if you are to refuse the resorting program you will be transferred to the nearest Wizarding school for a year. Upon your re-arrival at Hogwarts all new 8th years will be required to be re-sorted due to the fact that now you are no longer under Age, your personality may have changed especially due to the war. This is a program that will be exclusive to the new 8th years however, 4th years to 7th years will be eligible to apply if they were heavily involved in the war.
