I'm just trying to get through school and make something of myself, so if waitressing, catering, and serving drinks at the country club gets me there, then so be it..
I was catering an event at a house, possibly one of the most gorgeous OC houses I've ever seen. I filled in for my friend Alexandra that was supposed to work tonight, but it's fine.
We help each other in any way that we can, plus, I would've just been staying home and watching TV all night had she not called me, so making money is always great.
I was walking back into the kitchen to grab another plate, when I see someone leaning against the table, on their cell phone.
"Excuse me" I say, having to reach around them to grab the plates I needed.

Then, she goes too... With nothing making her happy in her small town, she makes a life-changing decision, that she thinks will benifit her, and make her life all that she wanted. Or, it could go very wrong and be worse than staying where she is. "Dad, I want to live with you" I told him over the phone, in tears. Nothing new there. "Samantha, you know I'd love you too, but there isn't any school around this area, remember? My school is in the countryside, with nothing within a short driving dinstance" he all but rejected me. "Then can I move schools? Attend your boarding school?" He was silent, then let out a long sigh of defeat. "I'll enroll you now. Pack your things, I'll send a car in the morning for you." That was all I needed to hear, and I was thrilled. Without making noise, I danced around my room and repeatedly thanked him. Later that night, after the usual abuse, I silently packed my things when she was passed out. They had a video camera and were discussing the "rules" to this shopping trip. The rules were they had to look into the camera and say what they were buying, for who and why. And the carts had to be overflowing with toys. It was as if they had dreamed their entire lives of doing a "who cares how much it costs" shopping spree at Toys R Us for their children. Just recklessly spending on a bunch of STUFF. That was 2007. And then came 2008. But, more disturbing to me, was the impact it had on families. I think moms and dads lost themselves in providing stuff for their kids and not giving their kids time. And I saw the kids suffer because of it. So, I did a little research and a lot of observing and I wrote a mostly fictional story about an upper-middle class family in the OC.
