"9-1-1. what's your emergency?" "I'm at-at the gas station on 5th and there are these men in the store right now...looks like they're stealing money but I could be wrong. I-I was taking the trash out before close and they must've notice and took the opportunity." A young girl panted on the other line. "Ok. Where are you right now?" the operator started quickly typing. "I'm outside. I don't think they've noticed me yet. Oh my god!" The girl started whispering. "Ma'am what's wrong? What's happening? Talk to me, help is on the way." "One of them started puking blood and it looks like he's..." "He's what?" "He's attacking the other guy! Trying to bite him! Oh my god! He bit him!" she started panting. "All right! All right! Stay out of sight. Officers are on the way!" What started off at first as a simple robbery turned out to be one of the first eye witness accounts of the new virus of the 21st century. And I'm not talking about COVID, no, this is much worse. It's like something straight out of a nightmare or a movie or even a video game. People dying and coming back with one mission, to chow down on the nearest breathing person. I know how insane that sounds but that girl who called the police, who was just trying to take the trash out after a long ass shift at a shady gas station is me. Someone had to record the end of the world.

As a scout for what remains of the government in a post-outbreak world, Merryn is sent to investigate an old naval supply depot in a nearby city but finds so much more than zombies. ***** A year after a virus leaves the world infested with shambling zombies, those who remain attempt to rebuild a shattered country. Supported by her friends and colleagues, Merryn forges a path through the post virus landscape, finding other survivors, and searching for anything that could help everyone survive. The best and worst of humanity still live, but things take a turn as nature plays another card: a young woman could be the key to everyone's survival as one variant after another changes the behaviour of the walkers, once again threatening the scattered remnants of humanity as they teeter on the brink of extinction.
