In the twisted depths of the Netherrealm, Ashrah, driven by her newfound purity, embarks on a relentless quest to slay the vampiric denizens that haunt the dark abyss. As her righteous mission gains momentum, Nitara, the vampire queen, rises to challenge her, sparking a cataclysmic confrontation between light and dark forces.

The clash between Ashrah and Nitara becomes the catalyst for a war that engulfs the realms. As the battles escalate, the once-magnificent realm of Edenia is tragically destroyed, reduced to chaos and ruin. Amid the turmoil, the Chaosrealm begins to crumble, leaving Kitana, Mileena, Tanya, and Jade with the solemn duty of defending the remnants of Edenia.

Two opposing forces emerge from the ashes. The malevolent alliance, led by Erron, Kano, Shao Kahn, Reptile, Ferra/Torr, Ermac, Scorpion, Noob Saibot, and with Kotal Kahn as their ruthless general, rallies under the banner of darkness. On the other side, the virtuous alliance forms, featuring Ashrah, the Edenians, Earthrealm's heroes, Sindel, Li Mei, and the Kombat Kids.
