Bryce has been searching for her parents for 12 years and her aunt for 10. On the 12th anniversary of her parents' disappearance she is losing hope that she will ever find them. She receives a letter that exposes a secret her family had kept from her that might be the answer to finding them. Meanwhile, her best friend Logan discovers he is adopted and is torn between feelings of hurt and anger. Logan decides to run away to find Bryce's aunt who could have information about his parents. Bryce joins him after minimal persuasion, wanting to find her family as well. They embark on a journey that will change their lives.
