Everyone believes Ballister is a commoner born in the streets. They couldn't be more wrong because Ballister is the Queen's biological child and the heir to the throne. After the king died of an assassination she discovered she was finally pregnant after many years.
Not wanting to risk losing the only family she had. The queen never let the kingdom see her son's face or tell the public his name so no one knew. After Ballister begged to be in the institute the queen allowed Ballister to be a knight. On the condition that he tells absolutely NO ONE who he really is.
